Father Silverino Kwebuza, A.J. Pastor
Father Silverino Kwebuza was born on May 11, 1964 to Mr. Deogratias Mbyemeire (deceased) and
Ms Edvina Bagira in the village called Burambira, Bugongi Sub-county, Kanungu District, Uganda.
He was baptised May 20, 1964 at Kambuga Parish Church. He started his elementry school
(Primary 1) at Bugongi Primary School in 1975 and graduated after completing grade 7, with an award of Primary leaving certificate
in 1981. In 1982 he joined High School (senior 1) at Bishop Comboni College, Kambuga and graduated in 1986 with an Ordinary
Level Certificate of Education (OLCE).
In 1987, Father Silverino joined the Minor Seminary in Moroto, Uganda where he enrolled for advanced
studies in accordance Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) and graduated in 1989 with the award of Uganda Advanced
Certificate of Education, (UACE).
Father Silverino then moved to Nairobi, Kenya where he embarked on philosophical and religious
studies graduating in 1992 with an award of Upper Second Class Honors Diploma. From 1992 to 1994 he underwent a
two year period of formation known as Noviatiate (studying about the nature of religious life and Order).
In August 1994, he started his Theological studies in the Major Seminary, Nairobi, Kenya.
He graduated on May 22, 1999 with a B. A. degree in Theology with an award of Upper Second Class honors, an affiliate of pontifical
Urbaniana University in Rome.
Father Silverino was ordained as a Priest by Right Reverend Robert Gay, the then Bishop of Kabale
Diocese of Uganda on July 4, 1999. His first assignment was in Bukinda Parish from August 1999 to August 2001 serving
in the capacity of Assistant Pastor. From September 2001 to 2003 he worked in Kamwezi Parish, Kabale Diocese in the
capacity of Pastor.
In August 2003, Father Silverino was transferred to the United States and appointed Pastor of
Holy Ghost / St. Richard's Churches in Marksville, LA, a position he held until June 2008. In August 2008, he was appointed
to work in Ishongoreo Parish, Mbarara Archdiocese, Uganda until june 2009 when he was reassigned as Pastor of ukinda Parish,
Kabale Diocese, Uganda, a position he held until May 2010.
On June 30, 2010 he was reassigned as Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in
Fifth Ward and St. Martin of Tours in Belledeau, both of which are located in Avoyelles Parish, LA.
